Samsung’s flagship phones for 2018 – The Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus – have finally arrived! The mobiles are very similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. If I could paraphrase a Daft Punk song for a moment, they are faster, sleeker, and come loaded with a bunch of new features. Including an incredible, variable aperture camera. Here’s everything you need to know about the two smartphones from a business mobile and usability perspective:
Still has all the premium build and sleek design as last year’s model, but on first glance it could be mistaken for the S8, with the re-positioned fingerprint sensor on the back being the only real give away. Now beneath the camera as opposed to beside it and much easier to use.
Speakers have been improved for the music and video lovers, the S9 is apparently 1.4 times louder than the S8.
They have also retained the 3.5mm headphone jack for those who hate Apple!
PERFECT FOR PRESENTATIONS
Can be linked with a DEX pad to link to a TV for a desktop like experience, very handy for presentations and the handset itself can be used as the mouse trackpad!
Their virtual assistant “Bixby” has also been improved, the most useful feature converting foreign language in real time using the camera, very useful for regular business travellers!
Another forthcoming feature will allow you to take photos of your food and automatically input their nutritional data into Samsung health.
CREATE QUALITY VIDEO CONTENT
Most of the changes are on the inside, the new camera feature of auto capturing super slow mo video (960 frames per second) as soon as the subject starts to move is very cool.
When you take a picture it takes the equivalent of 12 x pictures at once, so much sharper photos with much less “grain” etc.
A VARIETY OF APPS FOR THE BUSINESS MINDED
There are also several apps perfect for business mobile, designed to help you get around. The first, Translations, allows for the real-time translation of text, while the second, Places, allows you to identify landmarks via your camera. There are also the normal Samsung apps, including SmartThings, Voice Recorder, My Files, Internet, Samsung Health, Galaxy Health, and Samsung Gear.
