The Barclay Communications and WorkPal staff have pulled together to run a total of 78.6 miles all in aid of suicide and self harm prevention.

15 of our fantastic employees will take part in the Belfast City Marathon relay race on Monday 7th May 2018. Our chosen charity? PIPS – a suicide and self harm prevention group that works with people in Northern Ireland affected by this tragedy. Since the year 2000, 4,170 people have been taken due to suicide. The rate of people committing suicide in Northern Ireland has risen by 300% in the last 48 years. With thousands of families experiencing suicide or self harm, we felt we needed to raise money and awareness for this amazing charity.

PIPS was established in 2003 after 14 young people took their own lives within a short period of time. A group of stakeholders were compelled to address the issue and to this day the organisation still remains a community led establishment. They are a shoulder to cry on, a counsellor, an advocate and great support to people who have had to experience suicide or self harm and those who have, at some point, considered it.

As an issue that is close to our hearts, we decided to pull out the battered, old trainers and sign up to run a leg each of the marathon. 3 teams have been entered, t-shirts have been branded and there’s no backing out. We would like to thank our staff for volunteering to take part in this event and we wish you all, the best of luck. Our non-runners will be on the side lines cheering you every step of the way, whether you’re running, walking or crawling!

We have received great support so far through donations and sponsorship. Thank you to everyone that has helped us towards reaching our goal. We still have a long way to go so please continue to send your donations either to our Just Giving Page: or by texting COMMS57 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070.

A massive good luck to all our runners. We will see you at the finish line! #LetsGetMobile
