O2 chooses established partner Barclay Communications to bring its public sector mobile voice and data offerings, along with their local expertise to the Northern Ireland market
O2 today announced its ambition to bring transformation to Northern Ireland’s public services, helping connect their staff, citizens, assets, IT systems and communications with Centre of Excellence partner, Barclay Communications (Barclay)*.
The new approach brings together the best of O2’s mobile, voice and data services and Barclay’s local and centralised expertise in the region to enable the public sector to increase efficiencies and collaboration, save money, support citizen engagement and empower staff through technology.
As Northern Ireland’s only O2 Centre of Excellence, Barclay Communications have over 120 employees and have spent 16 years at the forefront of innovative, cost effective and tailored business telecommunications.
As a result they have a large, robust and local support and management framework that is ideally suited for Northern Ireland’s public sector mobile voice and data service needs.
Billy D’Arcy, managing director, O2 Public Sector, commented: “We see Northern Ireland as a crucial public sector market for us. We believe that we can help the public sector in the region make crucial savings – whether through policies and devices to empower staff to work more flexibly, or a mobile app to make it easier for local authorities to engage with communities.
He continued: “We are really pleased to be extending our work with Barclay Communications to increase our presence in Northern Ireland. This deal is testament to the excellent quality of service Barclay provides. Barclay is the perfect partner to help us grow our market share in Northern Ireland, supplying our entire range of business-to-business solutions.
“We believe we’re perfectly placed to understand the challenges faced by public sector organisations day in, day out. It’s this experience that allows us to bring a unique perspective in helping our public sector customers deliver great service through technology.”
Britt Megahey, Managing Director of Barclay Communications commented: “We are delighted to further expand our O2 partnership with a new strategic alliance that will provide local expertise and support for public sector voice and data services. We also anticipate that the partnership will generate additional employment within the company over the next 24 months.”
The new approach comes after the creation of O2’s dedicated Public Sector business division and following its accreditation to a series of lots on the Government’s Public Services Network (PSN) in July 2012.
