Forget the European Cup Final; Barclay Communications performed the UK’s first mobile hat trick on Thursday the 4th of June.
Belfast based Barclay Communications stormed onto London’s red carpet events on Thursday night. In one evening they took home the award for Mobility Reseller of the Year, at the Comms Business Awards. Then five miles down the road, at a completely different ceremony, they won Mobile Industry Awards’ Best Dealer.
Add these to their March win, Best B2B Dealer at the Mobile News Awards, and this telecommunications company just performed an industry hat trick. Winning three top honours in the UK’s three only mobile award ceremonies, something that has never been achieved by any other company, never mind one founded in Northern Ireland.
After the initial celebrations Britt Megahey, Managing Director of Barclay Communications had this to say about the evening’s achievements:
“This is a fantastic result for us. The awards are a credit to the team’s hard work and our clients’ loyalty. We promise to continue expanding and improving our services to ensure we live up to these prestigious awards.”
Recently, Barclay Communications signed a lucrative £16 million deal with O2, who were obviously thrilled that their trust in Barclay Communications was not unfounded. O2’s Head of SME Sales, David Plumb, had this to say:

To win the awards Barclay Communications had their recent growth, customer service, customer testimonials, marketing activities, staff training and all their products and services up for critical review. This included their mobile phones, mobilisation solutions, landlines and broadband, e-business, fleet tracking and tracing solution (TomTom WORK), IT Services and new marketing technology.
One particular component that caught the interest of the Mobile Industry Award judges was Barclay Communications’ intelligent investments into areas that made a big impact on their business:
“An almost forensic breakdown appeared on building the right products and services, having a finely tuned operation and, arguably its strongest asset, a phenomenal marketing arm.”
They were so impressed by Barclay Communications marketing efforts that the awards sister publication, Mobile Today, labelled Britt Megahey as a one of the “Mobile Power 50”, an accreditation awarded to the real influencers in the UK’s mobile phone industry, who demonstrate “fantastic vision and leadership qualities”.
Just 12 years ago, Barclay Communications were a small mobile phone shop in Larne. Now they are a major force within the UK, proving any small company can grow to great heights with the right drive and entrepreneur spirit.
